The Beauty of Nature in Spring

Good morning, dear friends and Happy Sunday to all. I thought I would share some recent pictures prompted by last night's sunset in our back yard. The trees look like they are lit up!

Here is a fun picture of the woods and rocks in our side yard. Can you spot the little chipmunk? Where is he hiding?

This is our rhododendron in full bloom.

Here is a close-up. I do love that bright color!

I have been taking long walks to get some fresh air and exercise. This is a pond in a nearby area and I like the reflections.

Here is the same pond. You can see the house reflected in the water.

Back home, I just wanted to show you a picture of what the tiger lilies look like when they are in full bloom. It's been a cold and rainy Spring so far, but this week we'll finally get some warm weather and more flowers will come up. Enjoy the rest of Spring. See you in Summer! xx

Spring!

Dear readers and friends, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring! I'm away for the weekend so I'm just posting a few pictures I took with my phone's camera. Here are some colorful tulips in front of a store's window in town. They are some of my favorite Spring flowers!

Daffodils are blooming near the train station in town where I commute to work.

Here is a close-up of a yellow one.

And one with white petals. I just learned this variety is called butter and eggs!

Dogwood trees are blooming and so is the forsythia, lining up the street where I live.

In the woods, the trees are not fully leafed out yet but forsythia is blooming there as well.

I have a dogwood in my front yard, too!

In my back yard, these yellow blooms are sprouting from holly leaves.

I also wanted to share a couple of fun pictures from Easter. I colored eggs!

The Easter bunny was all dressed up for the occasion!

And finally here is a picture of the crescent moon I took just last night. I hope you have enjoyed these point and shoot pictures. Have a beautiful rest of Spring and I'll see you soon! xx

Winter Wonders

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I last blogged, but I just wanted to share my latest photos. We're having a mild winter in the countryside of New York. We didn't get much snow, except for one major blizzard. But otherwise, it hasn't been that cold and the sunsets have been dramatic and colorful.

Here is a closeup of another sunset in the woods. The spectrum of colors from gold to pink to purple to blue is so pretty. Winter sunsets can be truly soothing, if you take the time to watch them..

Just a light dusting of snow here in the woods and amidst rocks.

Here is a wider shot. It does look very peaceful.

Despite the cold, these little plants on my windowsill decided to bloom unexpectedly. They are the only flowers I have seen so far, but they surely bring the promise of Spring. I will see you all again soon with pictures of the next wonderful season. Meanwhile, stay warm! Have a great weekend! xo

Christmas Lights in New York City

Dear friends, I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season! As promised, I am back with a few festive photos. There is nothing like Christmas time in New York City. It is an ongoing display of lights and decorations no matter where you walk around. Here I was at Bryant Park where tourists and New Yorkers alike love to ice skate under the Christmas tree.

This is a street shot I took on Park Avenue. Just about every street is lined up with trees adorned with golden lights. I especially love to take pictures at night time so you can see the reflections and all the lights in the skyscrapers as well.

Here I was at Rockefeller Center where the famous and tallest Christmas tree is lit up in multi-colors surrounded by angels. It truly is a magical place this time of year. People from all over come visit.

This year right across from the tree at Rockefeller center they had an amazing light show. The colors kept changing to the tune of Christmas music, something really spectacular to see in person.

Around the corner from Rockefeller Center, I decided to stop by St. Patrick's Cathedral. It's so peaceful to be inside this beautiful Church full of light and hope. I lit a candle for world peace, love and good health for family and friends.

Here I was walking on Fifth Avenue and took a picture of the Empire State Building which is lit up in red and green at Christmas time. I'm not sure how city lights ended up forming stars but it was cool!

And lastly, given that the holiday season usually includes lots of sweets, I thought I would leave you with this huge gingerbread house I photographed at a New York restaurant. I simply love it! I hope you enjoyed a little tour of New York City and I wish you all Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a wonderful, healthy and prosperous New Year! Thanks for being here and your continued support. xo

The Beauty of Autumn

As promised in my last post, I'm back with a few colorful Autumn photos. Please feel free to share the image above with your family and friends as a Thanksgiving card. I took this picture at a local farm. I just love pumpkins and pumpkin pie of course! Can't wait for the festivities to begin.

At the same farm, I took a picture of all these gourds, so many of them, in amazing colors, shapes, and textures. These are fun as decorations around the house or as a centerpiece in a basket.

Here is a picture of the woods in my back yard on a day when the sky was blue and the foliage was at its peak. So many vibrant colors against that serene sky. Fall has been mild here in New York with beautiful sunny days most of the time. I hope Winter will be just as mild!

This is my back yard later in the Fall when all has turned golden and most leaves have fallen. It just shines, doesn't it. So peaceful. I'm thankful for such a beautiful view that changes with the seasons.

And here is one more picture of the fallen leaves in so many different colors and shapes. The trees are now bare, except for pines and evergreens--a reminder that soon Christmas will be here. I will see you again then with some holiday photos. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving!
